ARNHA Wildlife Count

For over 40 years volunteers have recorded wildlife observations on the Lower American River on the first weekend of December. This tradition has generated valuable wildlife population data for the Lower American River, and this can be used to learn impacts from development, climate change, and more.

ARNHA Wildlife Count 2025 Synopsis

This is the 41st year of the ARNHA Wildlife Count, a priceless data resource that scores of dedicated volunteers have made possible. This year, observations were made on December 6 and 7, 2025, Saturday and Sunday. The results are: 118 Species plus 9 Taxa, with a total count or estimate of 13,274 individuals as Species. These were reported on 27 checklists by 51 different participants contributing over 290 people-hours, during the 2 days of observations, averaging nearly 6 hours per person.
