Biodiversity Walk

Please join us for an informative walk through the Ancil Hoffman Nature Study Area with Vince LaPena, former Park Interpretive Specialist and TEK Manager for Wilton Rancheria's Department of Cultural Preservation. Vince will share Traditional Ecological Knowledge about various plants and animals that live along the American River Parkway and provide insight into the relationship between the local Nisenan and Miwok people with the Cultural Landscape of the Sacramento region.

Speaker Bio: Vince LaPena is the TEK Manager at Wilton Rancheria's Department of Cultural Preservation. He is a descendant of the Nomptipom Wintu people from the headwaters of the Trinity and Sacramento Rivers. He is dedicated to the protection and preservation of the traditional ways of the Wintu, Maidu, Miwok, and Nisenan people from throughout Northern California.
