Nature of Things Speaker Series

Program costs vary and depend on the presenter, subject, and number of sessions.

The Nature of Things is a science program for adults (ages 12 and up) interested in the natural world. Programs include seminars and field studies led by guest presenters such as naturalists, rangers, photographers, authors, and educators. Gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Sacramento region's wildlife and history with us!

Cancellation/Refund Policy: A 10% fee applies to refunds for cancellations made more than 48 hours before the event. No refunds for cancellations 48 hours or less before the event.​

Hike with a Naturalist

Hike with a Naturalist:

  • Duration: 75 minutes

Join us for a guided hike at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center! Our Naturalists will lead your group of up to 18 people on a personalized hike in our 100-acre nature preserve to explore Sacramento wildlife. Whether you're fulfilling a club goal or just want to explore nature, we've got you covered!​

Young at Heart Program

Fee: $130.00

Group Size: 40 people

Age Range: Adults

Offered on weekdays.

Experience nature's wonders with a leisurely walk along oak woodland trails at Effie Yeaw Nature Center. Encounter deer, woodpeckers, and lizards. Choose to visit us or have us come to your facility with our materials and animals.

​

"Talks at Your Facility" brings nature to you! Our naturalist will bring a live raptor and other items for a 45-minute program catered to your group's interests.

Perfect for senior centers, retirement communities, assisted living facilities, and more!

UC California Naturalist Program

Fee: $450

​

The California Naturalist program teaches science, hands-on learning, problem-solving, participatory science, and volunteer service to foster a love for California's natural communities and encourage stewardship. It promotes environmental literacy and stewardship through discovery and action, combining classroom and field experience. Instructors and experts from local nature centers or natural resource agencies lead the courses. After completing certification requirements, participants can earn four academic credits through UC Davis Extension for an additional fee.
